GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A new license plate agency is opening in Greensboro Tuesday morning, nearly a year after another LPA closed in a fraud investigation.

The North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles said the new office, at 2218 Golden Gate Drive, will begin operating at 9 a.m. Monday. It's in the same shopping center with the office that shut down in September 2011, after employees there were investigated for notarizing blank documents that could result in illegal vehicle transfers.

The new LPA is operated by another contractor, and is expected to relieve congestion in the county's two other agency offices. Locations, off West Market Street in Greensboro and Westchester Drive in High Point, have experienced increased traffic since the third LPA closure last year.

The DMV estimates around 153,000 transactions were made at the Golden Gate office location in 2010.'

The phone number for the new office is (336) 275-7715.
