Bus carrying Winston-Salem church group catches fire near Carowinds

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — No injuries were reported after officials said a charter bus carrying a Winston-Salem church group burst into flames Thursday afternoon near Carowinds amusement park in Charlotte.

WCNC reported that thick black smoke was reported coming from the bus around 5 p.m. on 14523 Carowinds Boulevard.

The bus reportedly had about 50 children and church leaders from Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem who had finished spending the day at the amusement park.

WCNC reported that everyone was able to safely get out. Another bus reportedly brought the group home.
