Police: 2-year-old struck by grandmother’s vehicle in Seagrove

SEAGROVE, N.C. — A 2-year-old girl was hospitalized after police said she was struck by a vehicle driven by her grandmother Sunday in Seagrove.

Police said it happened around 11 a.m. in the 300 block of Yow Drive as the grandmother was leaving her home.

She told police she thought the girl was in the home asleep when she started driving away and the child wandered from the house.

Police said the child was taken to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill and is listed in stable condition after surgery.

Police said they are still investigating and it remains uncertain whether or not charges will be filed.
