Canadian skateboarder killed in Va. by truck

MARTINSVILLE, Va. — A 26-year-old Canadian man was killed in Southside Virginia after the skateboard he was riding went into the path of a pickup truck.

State police identify the victim as Maxime Benoit of Grandby, Quebec. Investigators tell the Martinsville Bulletin he was riding his skateboard Friday on Route 614 in Patrick County when the deadly accident occurred.

State police said Benoit was wearing a helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges were filed against the vehicle operator. An investigation is continuing.
