Greenville tops Kernersville to win Little League State Championship

CLEMMONS, N.C. — The Greenville Tar Heel 11-12 year old team won the Little League State Championship by beating Kernersville in Clemmons on Friday night.

Greenville beat Kernersville 7-4.

Trailing 3-2, Greenville scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take its final lead.

Holton Ahlers hit two home runs and was the winning pitcher. Kenneth Simmons also hit a home run, and Lanier Evans went 2-for-2, according to The Daily Reflector.

Greenville advances to the Southeast Regional in Warner Robins, Georgia.

The winner of that tournament moves on to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
