MEBANE, N.C. -- Storms that moved through on Friday night damaged some homes along East Ashland Drive.

Doug Fitzpatrick's home sustained the most severe damage.

"So I was standing right there and basically I just jumped through this door and then all that stuff came crashing down right behind me," said Fitzpatrick.

A tree that fell during the story destroyed his newly finished home.

"We had just spent a bunch of money remodeling our dining room and of course that's the part of the house that's the most damaged on the inside," said Fitzpatrick.

Dan Jones, a nearby resident, said his son's car was also hit by a tree.

"Didn't know what was going on, so decided I better get here and this is what i found when I got home," said Jones.

Utility workers were there today restoring power to Fitzpatrick's home. As of 10 p.m. Saturday, there were less than 10 outages reported in Alamance County.
