GROVER, N.C. — Cleveland County sheriff’s deputies say the shooting deaths of a man and woman in Grover was a murder-suicide.

Officials say 60-year-old Dennis Moss and 39-year-old and Dawn Moss died Saturday night.

Sheriff Alan Norman says a deputy had been dispatched to a home in Glover and saw Dennis Moss shoot his wife.

Norman said Sgt. Mark Self fired his gun to try to protect Dawn Moss. The sheriff says Dennis Moss then fled in a pickup truck and the officer followed. Norman says Dennis Moss then shot and killed himself.

Dawn Moss died Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.

The couple had two children.
