GREENSBORO, N.C. — NC Tax Free Weekend is just two weeks away, prompting many parents and civic organizations to start thinking about buying school supplies.

Gate City Transportation kicked off their “Education First” School Supply Drive on Tuesday. Supplies collected at various locations will benefit students from Wiley Elementary and Aycock Middle Schools in Greensboro.

Charlynn Dawson, a marketing director for Gate City transportation, said they decorated the collection boxes with bright gift paper wrap to make people think of crayons and the supplies they plan to present students with during upcoming Open Houses.

“We just want people to look at them and get excited about school and giving,” she said.

The boxes will be placed at Swoozies in the Friendly Shopping Center, North Carolina A&T State University, United Youth Care Service on 4th Street, Carter Circle of Care on MLK, Jr. Dr., and Gate City Transportation on South Elm Street.

Businesses who would like to sponsor the drive can have a box delivered to them by calling Gate City transportation at 336-691-1091.
