BURLINGTON, Vt. — Attorneys are expected in federal court for a hearing for a Virginia man charged with helping a former Vermont woman flee the country rather than turn custody of her child over to her former lesbian partner.

Tuesday’s hearing in Burlington is to discuss the details of the upcoming trial of Kenneth Miller of Stuarts Draft, Va.

He has pleaded not guilty to charges of aiding and abetting international parental kidnapping.

Prosecutors say Kenneth Miller drove Lisa Miller and her daughter from Virginia to Canada in September 2009.

The Millers are not related.

Prosecutors say Lisa Miller fled the country after a judge ordered her to turn custody of her daughter over to her former lesbian partner.

They were last known to be in Nicaragua.
