WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- A second bear sighting in two days was reported Saturday morning in Winston-Salem.

Winston-Salem police said the bear was spotted around 10:44 a.m. in the 2000 block of Mallard Lakes Drive. Officials said they are still looking for the animal.

The first sighting was reported around 1:30 p.m. Friday in the 1000-1100 block of Ziglar Road.

Officials said anyone seeing a bear within city limits should avoid contact with it and call the NC Wildlife Resource Commission at 800-662-7137.

People in the Mallard Lakes area are recommended to secure trash with food and remove food from pet bowls, bird feeders, squirrel feeders, etc.

Wildlife experts said bears will generally go back into the wild if food sources become unavailable.
