Walkertown man charged with burning down own home

WALKERTOWN, N.C. — Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man suspected of burning down his own home on Friday.

According to deputies, George Tyson Thompson, Jr., 55, set fire to his home at 1046 Whirl-Wind Drive shortly before 7 a.m.

Firefighters from three area fire departments responded to extinguish the flames. 

Thompson has been charged with one count of felony burning of ones own dwelling. 

He is being held under a $100,000 secured bond.
