Greensboro DSS granted custody of abandoned infant

GREENSBORO, N.C. – An abandoned infant found behind a home on Monday is now in the custody of the Greensboro Department of Social Services.

According to the News and Record, after a 15-minute hearing, District Judge Michelle Fletcher granted DSS protective custody of the infant on Friday.

Police estimate the baby, believed to be African-American or Hispanic, was between 10 and 12 hours old when a neighbor found him at the O’Ferrell Street home shortly before 8 p.m. on Monday.

Police are still searching or the woman they believe may have information about the case. She is described as a black or Hispanic female with reddish-brown hair.  She was last seen driving a 90s model white Honda Civic or Accord.
