COLLEGE STATION, Texas — A battlefield surveillance unit leader killed by a fellow soldier at Fort Bragg, N.C., last week will be laid to rest in College Station.

Funeral for Lt. Col. Roy Tisdale is set for Thursday. Then, the former Texas A&M University student will then be buried in the Aggie Field of Honor, an area of a College Station cemetery for Aggies and their supporters.

Tisdale was fatally wounded when Spc. Ricky G. Elder of Kansas shot him and another soldier, who survived. Elder then shot himself and later died.

Forty-two-year-old Tisdale had served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. His mother, Linda Tisdale, has told the Bryan-College Station television station KBTX that with all of his deployments, she never expected something to happen to him in the United States.
