HIGH POINT, N.C. — Minor injuries were reported after a crash resulted in a car fire Thursday at Business 85 and the Surrett Drive exit in High Point.

Police said Claudine Woodard, 37, was driving her ’86 Ford Escort north on U.S. 29/70 when she lost control of the car around 12 p.m.

The car overturned once and landed back on its tires, but a punctured fuel line and sparks from the crash ignited a fire.

Woodard’s three children — ages 4 through 9 — were riding in the car with her, but all four of them were able to move away from the vehicle before the fire started, police said.  They were all taken to High Point Regional Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Woodard was cited for failure to maintain lane control, but there were no other contributing factors, police said.
