BURLINGTON, N.C.-- It's an event that takes months to plan, but the wait is well worth it. City Park will host the annual "July 3rd in the Park" on Tuesday evening.
The event which takes places at the largest recreational facility in Burlington, will have food, fun, and of course fireworks.
Mary Faucett, special events supervisor with the city of Burlington said thousands are expected to pack the park for the event.
"We would like for people to come over... bring their friends, family so they can have entertainment at a very low-cost," Faucett said.
July 3rd in the Park even has some local connections. Burlington native Matt Strange is in charge of the fireworks show which includes close to 500 shells.
"It's fun and enjoyable for me to do this. I enjoy doing this for the people I know," Strange said.
July 3rd in the Park starts at 6:00 p.m. The fireworks show will begin at 9:30 p.m.
