GREENVILLE, N.C. — North Carolina police say alcohol fueled a fight in a downtown Greenville nightclub that ended with one dead and three wounded by gunfire.

Greenville police Lt. Carlton Williams said 21-year-old Dontae Haddock of Ayden was shot and later died at Vidant Medical Center. Three other people are recovering Sunday after being gunned down on a street near the nightclub early Saturday.

The shooting scene was near East Carolina University’s campus. The school issued an alert reporting that suspects in the shooting left the scene in a silver Mercury Grand Marquis.
