NC murder suspect arrested in Md.

LAUREL, Md. — Maryland State Police have arrested a North Carolina man wanted in a slaying in that state.

Maryland authorities were notified by Kannapolis, N.C. officials that 19-year-old Darius Smotherson of Kannapolis may be taking a bus headed to the Baltimore area.

Smotherson was wanted in a murder in Kannapolis on May 21.

About 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, authorities saw Smotherson getting off a bus at the Interstate 95 welcome center in Laurel. He was arrested without incident.
