AC Stone (WQMG)

GREENSBORO, N.C. — AC Stone, a radio personality for 97.1 WQMG, died this weekend, according to the radio station’s website.

The station said Stone had been sick for a few weeks but did not say the cause of death or his age.

Stone was an afternoon personality for WQMG and previously served as the station’s program director.

Stone had also served as a morning host and music programmer for Big WEAL Gospel and his religious convictions were an important element in his life, sources said.

Below is a portion of WQMG’s tribute to Stone posted on their website:

“Within just a very few minutes of learning the news of AC’s passing, something occurred to us. Along with our almost overwhelming disbelief and, frankly, shock, we realized that in all the time we’ve known him, we can’t recall anyone having a bad word to say about him. How unusual is that? Why didn’t we think of that before? He treated us all fairly, took us at our word and lived and mirrored his inner convictions. That’s easier said than done, of course. How many people can we really say that about?”
