GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A Gastonia man and woman accused of locking a 14-year old in a bedroom with no food or water for days have been arrested.

WSOC reported that Joy Evonne Skipper, 45, and Johnny Rufus Dickson Sr., 41, allegedly boarded up the windows in the bedroom keeping the teen from possibly escaping.

Arrest warrants state that the teen suffered from dehydration and tried escaping the room to beg for food at a neighbor’s home. The teen was allegedly forced to use a bucket to use the bathroom.

The pair were charged Saturday with child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and placed in the Gaston County Jail.

Skipper received a $15,000 secured bond and Dickson a $25,000 secured bond.

The relationship between the teen and the pair remains unclear.
