ASHEBORO, N.C. -- Police have arrested a man accused of shooting and killing a man early Sunday morning in Asheboro.

Police said Trenton Lee Leach, 21, fatally shot 32-year-old Joseph McKinley Langford around 2 a.m. on Tucker Street.

Police said the shooting may have taken place at a house party and may have been triggered by some kind of argument, possibly involving $10.

Police said they responded to another shooting on Farr Street a few blocks away about 15 minutes after responding to the Tucker Street shooting. They said they found a 19-year-old man shot in his leg.

He was hospitalized and is listed in stable condition, police said. Police said both shootings appear to be related but are still investigating.

Joseph Deloatch is the Langford’s father. He said his son was a great person and would do anything for anyone.

He said he is glad a suspect was arrested but wants answers.

“I know a lot of people out there know what happened -- and they ought to come forward and tell the truth,” Deloatch said.

Bobby Brown said he is new to the neighborhood and lives a few houses down from the shooting.

“It really disturbed me because it could have been a stray bullet come straight into my house,” he said.
