Man rescued by helicopter in Rockingham Co.

EDEN, N.C. – Emergency crews rescued a man that fell into a “confined space” while working at a Duke Power facility.

According to Kevin Suthard of the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, a worker fell 40-feet into a confined space at the facility located on Edgewood Road.

At approximately 5 p.m., the unidentified victim was transported via helicopter to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. His condition is unknown at this time.

Gentry Brann, a representative of The Shaw Group,  confirmed that an employee had fallen and was taken to the hospital. The representative said they would provide more information on Tuesday.

According to Duke Energy, The Shaw Group was contracted to build the Eden facility.
