WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Vice President Joe Biden had a little dessert Wednesday afternoon in downtown Winston-Salem.

Walking into Wolfies, a downtown eatery that sells gourmet frozen custard flavors such as sour green apple, chocolate raspberry and crème brulee, Biden went up to a pair of fifth-graders and asked, “Have you ordered yet?”

Once they ordered, so did the vice president, who went with a double-dip of vanilla and dark chocolate.

Meanwhile, sitting with his wife and 4-year-old son, already enjoying a scoop of key lime frozen custard, Tae J. Kim couldn’t believe what was happening.

“It was surreal, but it was also very real,” said Kim, 30.
