DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A portion of Business I-85 south is closed near Lexington after a tree-trimming truck crashed into a bridge, lowering the top of the bridge by 6 inches.
Troopers said the off-road tree-trimming bucket truck, which was being hauled by a flatbed on Business I-85 South, hit the bridge at Winston Road around 2 p.m.
According to Mark Crook, an NCDOT maintenance engineer, the interstate will be closed at Highway 8 for at least the rest of Tuesday.
Crook said it could be several days before bridge engineers are able to assess and gather the supplies needed for the repairs.
A DOT notice indicated it could take until June 19 before the repairs are complete.
No one was injured and no other vehicles were involved, troopers said.
