Boy, 4, shoots self in foot in Davidson County

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies say a 4-year-old boy shot himself in the foot with his parent’s gun Monday in Davidson County. 

In a news release from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies said the boy shot himself at his home on Frye Bridge Road on Monday. 

Responding officers found the boy with a gunshot wound to his foot.  

The boy was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment for the wound, which is not life-threatening. 

Deputies said they seek charges against the parents for “violation of storage of a firearm to protect minors.” 

It was not clear what type of gun was used.
