RALEIGH, N.C. — Republican Pat McCrory is rolling out his first television ad in his repeat bid to become North Carolina’s governor.

A campaign spokesman for the former Charlotte mayor said Thursday the commercial will run starting Friday in various television markets. The spokesman wouldn’t give a dollar amount on the size of the buy.

The Republican Governors Association and a political committee receiving funds from the Democratic Governors Association already have run commercials about McCrory and Democratic nominee Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton in the weeks after the May primary.

The McCrory campaign ad features McCrory in what looks like an old school gym. McCrory asks viewers to “forget about politics for a while” and focus on working together on the state’s economy. McCrory lost to Democrat Beverly Perdue in 2008.
