EDEN, N.C. – Police responded to local apartment complex after receiving reports that a man barricaded himself inside his apartment after assaulting his girlfriend.

On Friday, police responded to a domestic assault at 510 Bridge Street, Apartment D, in Eden around noon.

After arriving to the scene, Rita McBride, told officers her boyfriend, Clarence Lee, Jr., threatened her and then barricaded himself inside the apartment where he was in possession of weapons.

Eden’s Special Response Team responded, evacuated the immediate area and blocked off all traffic. Lee surrendered to authorities shortly after incident.

Lee has been charged with communicating threats, damage to personal property and outstanding warrants from Caswell County.
