MCLEANSVILLE, N.C. — Deputies on Friday said they were investigating a woman’s death as a homicide after her body was discovered yesterday in a car on the side of a Guilford County roadway.

Col. Randy Powers with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office said two construction workers stumbled upon the silver 2001 Oldsmobile Alero on the side of Huffine Mill Road at the intersection with Camp Burton Road shortly before 9:45 a.m.

Inside, deputies said they found the body of a Hispanic woman who appeared to be in her mid-20s.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was stabbed to death with a knife, deputies said.

The body has been sent to the N.C. Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

There was no visible damage to the car, Powers said.

Anyone with further information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (336) 373-1000. A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest or indictment of whoever is responsible.
