One man is dead, Two in critical-condition after car crash in Mt. Airy

MOUNT AIRY – One man is dead and two others are in critical condition as the result of a head-on collision that occurred in Mount Airy on Friday evening.

According to John Shelton, Director of Emergency Services, the accident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Hamburg Street in front of Mount Airy Middle School.

One male patient was air lifted and a female patient was transported by Surry County EMS by ground to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Both patients were in critical but stable condition.

One male was pronounced dead on scene.
