GRAHAM, N.C. — A Graham man was charged early Wednesday with first-degree murder in the death of his son.

Michael David Lee, 30, was found dead in his father’s mobile home at 118 Amy Drive around 3 a.m., according to Graham police Capt. S. P. McGilvray.

McGilvray said Gary Michael Lee, 57, shot his son once in the chest and then slit his throat.

Responding officers found Gary Lee at the home with his girlfriend, who had reportedly arrived just moments before authorities.

McGilvray said Michael Lee and his father were drinking and playing cards throughout the evening and early morning, but at some point there was a confrontation.

A clear motive has not been determined.  Police said nobody else was home at the time of the incident aside from a dog.

The SBI has been called to assist in the investigation.

According to the Burlington Times-News, Gary Lee is employed by the N.C. Department of Transportation.

Gary Lee is being held in the Alamance County Jail without bond.  His first court hearing is slated for Thursday.
