BURLINGTON, N.C.– Alamance Regional Medical Center announced Wednesday plans for a $60 million expansion of its main campus.

The planned expansions include a larger day surgery facility and emergency departments along with a new cancer facility.

The expansions will address that facility’s current service limitations while enhancing patient care, according to a news release.

“This project highlights our continued growth and commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities and services for the community we serve,” said John Currin, President and CEO of Alamance Regional.

Presently, the the emergency department sees approximately 58,000 patients and by 2020 expect to serve 70,000 patients per year.

Construction is expected to begin in the spring and be complete by early 2014.
