WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Winston-Salem's National Little League organization says Monday rains caused their ballpark to flood.

Officials said the National Little League fields off Phillips Bridge Road in Winston-Salem likely won't be ready to reopen until next week.

The league president said flooding caused thousands of dollars in damage, including damage to appliances in the concession stands.

While the fields have flooded before, Kay Nelson said it's been a long time since they've looked this bad.

"I'm sorry for the people that have to come and clean all this up and sorry for the players that have to be put on hold for a while," Nelson said.

All games scheduled for this week are canceled until further notice.
