Nearly 6 lbs. of pot seized from Mount Airy home

MOUNT AIRY, N.C. — A Mount Airy man was arrested after police said they found nearly six pounds of marijuana in his home. 

Jeffrey Dewayne McHone was arrested after police and deputies received consent to search his home at 133 Bluff St., according to a news release from the Mount Airy Police Department.  Police did not say when the search took place. 

Before the search, police said undercover detectives purchased marijuana from McHone on multiple occasions. 

Between the undercover purchases and the search of the suspect’s home, police said investigators seized about 5 3/4 lbs. of pot along with an undisclosed number of guns and cash. 

Charges against McHone include multiple counts each of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, selling and delivering marijuana, possession with intent to sell marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for drugs, and maintaining a vehicle for drugs.
