Police look for witnesses to Winston-Salem shooting

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police are looking for witnesses to a shooting that took place Thursday night in Winston-Salem. 

Reginald Fullard, 53, was arrested in connection with the shooting, which happened in the 1100 block of West Academy Street around 9:30 p.m. 

The victim, Steven Frazier, told police he was speaking with a female friend when they were approached by Fullard, who was shouting profanities at the friend. 

Frazier said he confronted Fullard about the way the suspect was speaking to his friend when Fullard shot him with a .25-caliber handgun. 

The victim was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.  Police said his injury does not appear to be life-threatening. 

Fullard was arrested a short time later on Peters Creek Parkway, police said. 

The suspect faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm by a felon. 

Police said the investigation is ongoing and witnesses are actively being sought.  Witnesses are asked to call the police department or Crimestoppers at (336) 727-2800.
