GREENSBORO, N.C. -- New body scanning machines are being installed at the Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro.

Four advanced imaging technology machines in total are being installed at the airport.  Two of the machines are already in place.

The machines allow TSA agents to scan passengers for things like weapons and explosives without any physical contact.  If a threat is detected, a monitor will show the items on an outline of the person being screened. (For more information about the technology, visit tsa.gov.)

The machines are among several recent improvements at PTI, such as the addition of free Wi-Fi in April.
