A local store, Acme Comics, is offering free comic books Saturday and the fans have turned out.

“We expect this to be one of the largest Free Comic Book Day events in the world,” said Jermaine Exum, store manager.

Acme Comics is prepared for more than 4,000 attendees and has estimated around 900 people have received free comics since 9:30 am.

In addition to comics, professional comic book artists will draw free sketches and superheroes will be there to entertain the kids.

Acme Comics has also partnered with the Natural Science Center of Greensboro to offer a second location for Free Comic Book Day.

In April, the City Council unanimously agreed that Greensboro shall be known as “Comic Books City, USA” on the first Saturday in May.
