CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Prosecutors said a woman accused of killing her estranged husband last month in Charlotte stabbed him 19 times.

Prosecutors told WSOC Thursday that Carole Larossa, 48, killed James Larossa, 51, after stabbing him repeatedly in the back.

Police said they were called shortly before 10 p.m. April 10 to an apartment complex and found James Larossa dead and his wife injured.

A statement from police said both people were stabbed, but the woman’s injuries are not serious. James Larossa was a former New York police officer.

Carole Larossa was charged with murder in connection with the stabbing.

WSOC reported that Larossa told investigators she and her husband were separated and he sexually assaulted her before she stabbed him.

Larossa is out on bond and must wear an electronic monitoring bracelet, WSOC reported.
