Pedestrian hospitalized in Burlington car wreck

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police said a man trying to cross the road is in critical condition after being struck by a car Thursday night in Burlington.

De Weng Huang, 46, was hit by a 2009 Chevrolet sedan driven by a 40-year-old Elon woman around 10:12 p.m. in the 3500 block of Garden Road, police said.

Police said he was walking on the edge of the roadway. No charges have currently been filed against the driver.

Huang was taken to UNC Hospital by helicopter. The investigation is ongoing.
