SURRY COUNTY, N.C. — Two medical transport helicopters were called to the scene of a double shooting in Surry County late Thursday night.

According to Sheriff Graham Atkinson, two people were shot in the head at 641 Cave Road off Cave Mill Road near Dobson around 9:15 p.m.

The shootings, which are being investigated as an attempted murder-suicide, appear to be the result of a domestic dispute, Atkinson said.

Both victims were still alive when they were transported from the scene, Atkinson said.

No other details were immediately available. Atkinson said it would likely be Friday morning before more information is released.
