Hillsborough teen charged with assaulting sergeant at prom

SAXAPAHAW, N.C. — A teenager was arrested after officials said he punched a sergeant in the face at a charter school’s prom Saturday night in Saxapahaw.

The Burlington Times News reported that Montana Bleys Murray, 16, of Hillsborough, allegedly struck Sgt. B. Baldwin of the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, breaking his glasses and knocking him to the ground.

The paper reported that it happened at The Hawbridge School’s prom, held at 1711 Saxapahaw-Bethlehem Church Road, at the Haw River Ballroom. Baldwin was providing security at the event and was investigating a disturbance during the assault, the paper reported.

Murray was charged with felonious assault with physical injury to law enforcement officer and injury to personal property.

He was placed in the Alamance County jail under a $10,000 bond and has court May 23.
