HIGH POINT, N.C. — A man was arrested Tuesday after police said he fled from officers by car and on foot.

According to Margaret Erga with the High Point Police Department, officers responded to a domestic disturbance around 11 a.m. and learned that the suspect, Eric Sutherland, 25, had left the scene in a silver Chevrolet Impala.

Less than 10 minutes later, another officer saw Sutherland’s vehicle and attempted to stop it, Erga said.

Sutherland fled from the officer and entered a house on Thistle Down Court near Russell Avenue, Erga said.

Meanwhile, an officer who was on the way to assist in the pursuit crashed with another vehicle on Russell Avenue, Erga said.

Specific details about the crash were not immediately available, but nobody was seriously injured, Erga said.

Officers evacuated residents from the home on Thistle Down Court.

While officers were preparing to enter the home, Erga said Sutherland climbed out of a second-story window and onto a porch overhang.

Sutherland jumped from the overhang, at which point officers were able to take him into custody, Erga said.

No other details have been provided.
