Driver dies, two injured in Greensboro accident

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A driver was killed and two others seriously injured following a car crash on West Friendly Avenue early Monday morning.

Police said Scott Smith was driving his 1993 BMW east on West Friendly Avenue around 12:28 a.m. when the vehicle went left of center and crashed into a 1993 Ford Mustang driven by Brittany Greene of Burlington.

Smith was taken to Moses Cone Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Greene and her passenger, Dustin Poe of Burlington, were taken to Moses Cone Hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries.

West Friendly Avenue was closed for a brief period of time but has since reopened.

Police are investigating the accident.
