Edwards trial

GREENSBORO, N.C. — During the morning session on Wednesday, Andrew Young continued to detail the elaborate plan to cover-up and hide John Edwards’ affair with Rielle Hunter.

Young said he was promised a job leading a foundation for Edwards backed by the money provided by Mellon. This never happened. He said Edwards was not returning his phone calls and the Young family was stuck in California with Rielle Hunter and the baby.

Young told the story of meeting with Edwards in a DC hotel in June 2008. According to Young, the two men argued about the Hunter situation before Edwards agreed he would help.

“I had strong doubts about the follow through,” Young said.

During the campaign, Edwards was photographed by the National Enquirer at a Beverly Hills Hotel. According to Young, Baron’s response to the photograph was “What the f**k was he thinking? He’s ruined.”

Young also discussed his last meeting with Edwards in August 2008. Young said he followed Edwards out of the country to discuss the money.

According to Young, Edwards said he was confronted about the money from Mellon.

Young said Elizabeth Edwards was constantly taking John’s phones, keys and “berating” him” after the affair.

Court let out for lunch around 12:30 p.m. The defense is expected to cross examine Young this afternoon.
