GRAMMY® Award-winning music producer and American Idol judge Randy Jackson is using his personal experience with type 2 diabetes to help others with diabetes understand serious complications, including heart disease.

Soon after he was diagnosed in 2003, he learned that people with diabetes are more likely to suffer from heart disease or stroke than people without diabetes.

Now Jackson is touring the country with Merck for the Taking Diabetes to Heart campaign to help “set the stage” for people with type 2 diabetes to commit to a diabetes-friendly lifestyle. As part of the campaign, Randy Jackson is encouraging people with type 2 diabetes to commit to take their diabetes to heart by visiting www.TakingDiabetestoHeart.com to make the pledge.

Those with type 2 diabetes who make the pledge will have access to Randy’s  personal tips to help manage their disease, sample questions to ask their doctors about ways to help manage diabetes and reduce the risk of heart disease.
