GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Police are searching for two suspects after a victim was reportedly attacked in an elevator on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

In a news release, police said the incident happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at 1501 Spring Garden St.  The university lists the address as the Jefferson Suites.

The victim told police he entered the elevator to the building, where the two suspects were waiting.  When the elevator doors closed, the suspects reportedly pulled out a handgun and started punching the victim in the head.

Once the elevator stopped, the suspects reportedly walked the victim outside and reached into his pockets for property.  Police said the victim was then able to escape.

UNCG student Elizabeth Bass can't believe something like this happened in a building that's suppose to be one of the most secure.

"The fact that somebody can get in an rob, and then get out and nobody know who it is, that kinda makes me worry," Bass said.

The suspects ran away in an unknown direction.

The first suspect was described as a light-skinned black male standing 5'7" tall and weighing 150 lbs.  He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a black toboggan at the time of the robbery.

The second suspect was described as a dark-skinned black male standing 5'9" tall and weighing 160 lbs.  He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a black toboggan at the time of the robbery.

The victim suffered minor injuries. He was not taken to the hospital.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crimestoppers at (336) 373-1000.
