FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Authorities said the gun used to kill a Fayetteville woman in her home last week has been linked to a homicide and suicide in New Jersey.

Cumberland County deputies said Tuesday that detectives used ballistics tests to make the link among the three dead people.

Police said 39-year old Giocondo Navek killed himself with the gun during a traffic stop April 11 in Voorhees, N.J., after investigators began looking for him in the shooting death of a former colleague, Payman Houshmandpour.

Authorities said Navek’s gun was also linked to the killing of 35-year-old Shawna Givens in Fayetteville. The two met at Womack Army Community Hospital at Fort Bragg.
