Carole LaRossa (Mecklenburg County Jail)

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Authorities in Charlotte said a woman faces murder charges in the stabbing death of her ex-husband during what’s described as a domestic argument.

Carole LaRossa, 48, is charged in the death of 51-year-old James Arthur LaRossa. WCNC-TV in Charlotte reported that a union official identified James LaRossa as a retired New York police officer. Union officials couldn’t be reached for comment Wednesday.

Police say they were called shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday to an apartment complex. When officers arrived, they found James LaRossa dead and his wife injured.

A statement from police said both people were stabbed, but the woman’s injuries are not serious.

Carole LaRossa is being held in the Mecklenburg County jail without bond.
