Head-on crash in High Point injures two

HIGH POINT, N.C. — Two people were seriously injured in a head-on crash after an SUV tried to avoid hitting a dog Friday afternoon in High Point.

Police at the scene said the crash, which happened on Westchester Drive at Stone Place shortly after 1 p.m., involved two SUVs.  The SUVs were occupied by the drivers alone.

The drivers were both taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with serious injuries. Their identities have not been released.

Police said the crash happened when one of the drivers swerved to avoid hitting a dog in the roadway.  The driver crossed the center lines and struck the other SUV head-on, police said.
