Students: NC school disciplining for tweets
GASTONIA, N.C. — Students at a North Carolina high school said administrators are trying to quiet complaints the children post on Twitter by threatening to suspend anyone who speaks out.
The Gaston Gazette reported that students at Forestview High School say administrators are trying to keep students from talking about issues at the school.
An English teacher at the school was arrested last week and faces charges of distributing prescription pills to a student on campus.
Gaston County Schools spokeswoman Bonnie Reidy says any time a student has been disciplined, it’s because they’ve broken a rule or policy.
Sophomore Dallas Garvin says he got a day of in-school suspension after complaining on Twitter that administrators and the teachers at Forestview abuse their power.
