Man sought after Winston-Salem homicide

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police are looking for a man after officials said his roommate was found dead from gunshot wounds at their home Tuesday night in Winston-Salem.

Landon Marchell Rader Jr., 50, has been sought by police since authorities said Jackie Edward Cates, 52, was found unresponsive at 1107 Ziglar Road just after 11 p.m.

Police are calling the death a homicide, but an autopsy is pending.

Rader is described as a white male; about six feet tall with a heavy build. He reportedly has brown hair and green eyes and walks with a slight limp.

Police said Rader is believed to be driving a white 1993 Ford Taurus with a North Carolina license reading “XYT-8973.”
