Cyclist hit by SUV in High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A bicyclist was taken to the hospital after being hit by an SUV Tuesday morning in High Point.

Police Capt. Ken Steele said the 81-year-old cyclist was hit in the 2300 block of West English Road near Burton Avenue around 9:15 a.m. He was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where his injuries are considered non life-threatening.

Steele said the cyclist was at fault. He said the cyclist turned left into the path of the SUV, which was in his blind spot.

No charges are being filed.
